She’s directed writers’ festivals in Sydney and London and now Margie Burke wants to take you to to Bali to the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival.  Engage with writers from around the globe who tune their unique literary voices into the delights and issues of the modern world.

Features of Margie Burke’s tour include a four-day pass to the Writers & Readers Festival, attendance at the festival gala opening at the Royal Palace Ubud, morning tea with the festival founder and director, Janet DeNeefe, evening drinks with guest writers, a literary lunch in one of Ubud’s stunning eateries, a ‘book club’ discussion on the work of one of the writers appearing at the festival, a Balinese cooking class, and a tour led by a local guide exploring the beauty of Ubud.  It will be a wonderful week of books, ideas, conversation, enrichment and tranquility. 

Writers Festival Authors for 2018 Are Now Confirmed!

The 2018 Ubud Writers & Readers Festival will feature an outstanding range of Australian, international and local writers from more than 30 different countries.

Anuradha Roy, Booker Prize nominee for Sleeping on Jupiter; Ndaba Mandela Going to the Mountain (following in his beloved grandfather’s footsteps); Shrabani Basu – London based journalist and author of Victoria & Abdul; bestselling Italian novelist Giuseppe Catozzella, Irish-Australian, Dervla McTiernan, first-time author of best-selling The Ruin,, Clementine Ford, author of Fight Like a Girl, author and journalist Jill Stark; journalist, writer, commentator and documentary maker Jane Caro, novelist Gail Jones.

They join former Australian Human Rights Commission president Gillian Triggs, twice Miles Franklin award recipient Kim Scott; Hanif Kureishi The Buddha of Suburbia; Indian poet, novelist and dancer Tishani Doshi, Nigerian American writer and filmmaker Dr. Uzodinma Iweala; Pakistani memoirist and novelist Fatima Bhutto; British author Geoff Dyer; Indonesian film director Kamila Andini and Balinese Dee Lestari and Aan Mansyur, plus many more new and familiar names.
